Destiny Dumon vs. Brandi Passante (Unified MMA Title Match)

The KOA Arena is jam packed in anticipation of tonight’s rematch, which will be for the Unified MMA World Championship. Destiny will take on Brandi Passante. 

The last time these two met was in a boxing ring, Brandi knocked Destiny out, but Destiny won by disqualification after Brandi shoved the referee out of the way to knock Destiny out. 

Now the stage is set, and as mentioned, this is for the Unified MMA World championship. 

As usual, ringside commentator, Chuck is joined by myself and my girlfriend, Alicia Vitarelli. 

“Steve, Alicia, a pleasure as always.” Chuck says, extending his hand to shake ours. 

“Chuck, the pleasure is all ours.” Alicia says. 

“Ok, well, Samantha Ponder is out with injuries sustained against Brooke Wylde, we have Tabitha Bolin filling in and she’s standing by with the challenger, Brandi Passante. Tabitha?” 

“Thank you, Chuck. Brandi, what’s on your mind heading into this title match up?” 

“Just that I should have hit Destiny harder in our last meeting. And, Alicia...pretty little Alicia, don’t think I forgot what you did, if your boyfriend doesn’t get in the way, I’ll be coming for my FightGirl title back.” Brandi says, walking away. 

“Thank you, Brandi! Chuck, back to you.” 

Brandi makes her way to the ring, accompanied by her corner crew. She’s wearing a yellow sports bra and matching shorts. She gets inspected cage side, receives her mouth piece and enters the octagon. 

“Thank you, Tabitha! Alicia, those were some pretty pointed comments toward you, your thoughts?” 

“Brandi is clearly delusional, all matches in the WEC are no disqualification. If she doesn’t like it...oh well.” 

“Let me make this clear, Ms. Passante is in no position to make demands or make matches, with that being said, it said right in the contract that that match was going to be her last one against Alicia. So, unless Alicia loses the FightGirl championship, Brandi won’t have a title match any time soon.” I say 

“Ok, well, now, Tabitha is now standing by with the champion, Destiny Dumon...Tabitha?” 

“Thank you, Chuck! Destiny, you heard the comments of Brandi, what are your thoughts?” 

“My thoughts? This isn’t boxing, I think we all know I can’t box. But, I’m great at MMA, so, tonight, Brandi, you’re in for a long night. Oh, and Brandi, if I were you, I’d stop worrying about Alicia and worry about me.” Destiny says, walking away. 

“Thank you, Destiny! Chuck, back to you!” 

Destiny makes her way to the ring, wearing a purple sports bra and white shorts, she’s accompanied by her corner crew. She gets inspected cage side, receives her mouth piece and enters the octagon. 

Both women have to be separated. 

“Thank you, Tabitha. Steve what are your thoughts heading into this match up?” 

“Chuck, I watched the last meeting between Destiny & Brandi. In all honesty, Brandi is lucky to still be here in the WEC, and now she thinks she’s entitled to a rematch against Alicia. Brandi, you’ll get no rematch, you lost, get over it.” 

“Ok, well, let’s throw it up to ring announcer Karen Rogers, it’s time for our main event.” 

Karen Rogers enters the octagon to make the official introductions. 

“Ladies & gentlemen! The following is our MAIN EVENT of the evening. It’s scheduled for 5-rounds and it is for the Unified MMA World championship. 

“Introducing first...fighting out of the blue corner...she hails from San Diego, California...please welcome...BRANDI PASSANTE.” 

Brandi flips the crowd the finger. 

Her opponent, fighting out of the red corner...she hails from Charlotte, North Carolina...and she is the...REIGNING...DEFENDING...UNIFIED MMA WORLD CHAMPION...please welcome...DESTINY DUMON...” 

Destiny smiles and waves to the crowd. 

The referee gives final instructions. The bell sounds, starting round 1. Both women come out circling. 

Brandi scores first with a huge right hook, snapping Destiny’s head back. Destiny answers back with a couple of quick jabs, making Brandi back up a few steps. 

Destiny now shoots in for a takedown, but Brandi stuffs it. 

Brandi now lands a vicious knee strike, connecting flush with Destiny’s jaw, knocking her down to the mat. 

Brandi moves in to capitalize, but Destiny wisely covers up. 

Eventually both women are back on their feet. 

Destiny scores with a spinning back fist, again backing Brandi up a few steps. 

Destiny once again shoots in for a takedown, and this time, she’s successful.  

Just then the horn sounds, ending round 1. 

“Pretty even 1st round, Brandi scored a knock down. Destiny scored a takedown. What are your thoughts? Let’s start with you, Steve?” Chuck asks. 

“As you said, Chuck, pretty even to start, I expected nothing less from these two great fighters.” I say 

“Yeah, Chuck, these two want this fight really bad. It’ll be interesting to see what transpires here in round 2.” Alicia says. 

In Brandi’s corner: 

“You did ok out there, you need to guard against that takedown better, you stopped her 1st attempt, but, she was successful on her 2nd attempt. Keep it up with the knock downs and the takedowns will stop.” 

In Destiny’s corner: 

“You did an ok job, Destiny, you never gave up on those takedowns and you took her down, Only thing is, you need to protect yourself better, you did get knocked down that round. Keep going for the takedowns though.” 

Both women are on their feet for round 2. 

The bell sounds and both women come out circling. 

Destiny scores with another spinning back fist, but Brandi also scores with a body kick. 

Brandi backs up and scores with a flying knee strike, knocking Destiny down again. Brandi moves in to finish her off, but Destiny covers up, so, only a few of the hammer fist shots got through. 

Eventually, Brandi gave up and allowed Destiny to get back to her feet. 

Once back to her feet, Destiny immediately shoots in for a takedown, and is once again successful. But, Brandi pulls guard, and Destiny is unable to pass Brandi’s guard. So, Destiny allows Brandi to get back to her feet. 

Destiny immediately goes for a Superman punch, knocking Brandi down. 

Destiny moves in to finish her off, but the horn sounds ending round 2 

“Another explosive round, Chuck, the judges are going to have a tough time scoring this one.” I say. 

In Brandi’s corner: 

“You got rocked that round, Bran. Protect yourself a lot better, you don’t want to get knocked down too many times.” 

In Destiny’s corner: 

“Great job again that round, Destiny. But, you did get knocked down again. Protect yourself better or this night will end early for you.” 

Both women are on their feet for round 3. 

The bell sounds and both women come out circling. 

Destiny charges out and backs Brandi against the cage and clinches up with her, and quickly execute a hip toss, sending Brandi crashing to the mat. 

Destiny goes to get on top, but Brandi immediately pulls guard, and again, Destiny is unable to pass her guard. 

Destiny eventually gives up and allows Brandi to get back to her feet. 

Destiny goes for another Superman punch, which backs Brandi against the cage again. Destiny begins firing off quick rights and lefts, most landing flush on Brandi’s jaw, but, Brandi is standing tall. 

Brandi scores with a right hook that connects with Destiny’s jaw, this makes Destiny back up a few steps. Brandi follows it up with a massive body kick. 

With that the horn sounds, ending round 3. 

“Alicia you’ve been awfully quiet, what are your thoughts on this fight?” Chuck asks. 

“My thoughts? My thoughts are: Brandi ought to consider herself lucky that I don’t compete in MMA, I’d beat on her worse than what Destiny is.” Alicia says. 

In Brandi’s corner: 

“This match has been pretty even so far, Bran. Go out there and try to dominate.” 

In Destiny’s corner: 

“You’re doing great, just like I said, protect yourself better, you’re taking too much punishment.” 

Both women are on their feet for round 4. 

The bell sounds, and this time it’s Brandi who comes charging out, backing Destiny against the cage. Brandi begins firing off hard punches to Destiny’s body, busting up her ribs. 

Destiny is able to shove her off, and Destiny connects with a right hook that catches Brandi right on the temple, knocking her down. 

Destiny moves in, firing off rights and lefts, all of them catchign Brandi flush on the jaw. 

Finally the referee steps in, stopping the fight. 

The winner, by knockout and still Unified MMA Champion...Destiny Dumon.
